Dog training is an essential task that does not have to be difficult. Beginning right away with a new pet will ensure you and your dog share a long, healthy and happy life together. Dogs that are not trained might becoming annoying for you and your family and unmanageable, which will cause you a lot of stress and may result in you finding a new home for your dog.
The willingness to properly train your dog in obedience is key. It is also your responsibility. Don’t wait until your dog charges the mailman. Unruly behavior may result in injury to you or your pet. Rather, the training should start as soon as the dog is introduced into your house. It might be hard at times and will push your patience to the edge, but if you keep training then all that will work will result in a dog that is trained and enjoyed by your whole family.
Both your pet and your family will derive several advantages as a result of appropriate dog training and obedience. First and foremost, your pet will now behave properly and will be a pleasure to have around, bringing amusement and cheer to the family. A dog left untrained in obedience will display behaviors you won’t like. These include but are not limited to: barking, biting, chewing, digging and running off or escaping.
These unrestrained activities will disrupt the normal life of the family, frazzle your nerves, and cause ill will and resentment toward the dog. His behavior will not just be upsetting to you, but the results of your dog’s behavior will cause you a lot of undue stress. An ideal pet does not destroy things in your home or garden. He doesn’t escape and run will-nilly down the street or through other people’s yards. No one enjoys an uncontrollable pet. Most of the time, those who don’t get their dogs trained will have dogs that do not mind, and the owners will give up on the dog and get rid of them.
By failing to train your dog you do him a great disservice. Give your dog the tools he needs to become an obedient, well-trained member of the family. However, there are a lot of other advantages that your dog might have if you work on training him the correct way. Dogs are naturally curious too. One who doesn’t respond to commands or come when called can get into dangerous situations, often risking injury or death.
Dogs that run away every time they get a chance are more likely to get run over by a car than a dog that does not. If a dog gets loose, he may become distracted and be incapable of finding his way home. Life on the street is brutal for a dog. It’s possible he could succumb to disease, starvation or malnutrition. The animal control officer in your town is always on the lookout for dogs that aren’t leashed and running free. Many dogs apprehended by animal control are euthanized.
These aren’t the only bad things that can happen to an untrained or disobedient dog. If your dog is not trained not to chew, his natural behavior is to chew and to eat whatever he can get. This in turn can lead to poisoning or intestinal blockage if the wrong items are eaten.
The advantages of dog training and obedience are too lengthy to list. But the benefits are tremendous. It is up to you to love, protect and train your dog.
